Our Land Acknowledgement
At All Kinds Club, we believe land acknowledgements must come from a place of genuine respect, relationship, and responsibility. Naming the Indigenous lands we work from is one step in practicing accountability and building ongoing, meaningful connections with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
Although we are an online clinic, our team works from what is now known as Hamilton, Burlington, and Toronto β territories that are the traditional lands of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Mississaugas of the Credit, and other Anishinaabe Nations. These lands are part of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, a longstanding agreement that calls for shared care, respect, and stewardship of the lands and waters in the Great Lakes region. We also acknowledge the Between the Lakes Purchase (1792) and the ongoing presence and leadership of First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis Peoples across these territories.
As a clinic serving clients across Canada, we also honour the diversity and breadth of Indigenous Peoples and communities coast to coast, including the more than 600 First Nations, Inuit communities across Inuit Nunangat, MΓ©tis Nations, settlements and regions, treaty territories, and unceded lands across Turtle Island.
We recognize the enduring relationships Indigenous Peoples have with these lands, waters, and skies, and the histories β past and present β that shape the places where we live and work. We also acknowledge the impacts of colonialism on mental health, community wellness, and access to care.
At All Kinds Club, we are committed to ongoing learning, cultural humility, and practicing reconciliation in ways that are active, relational, and grounded in our everyday work. We know this is lifelong work, and we are committed to ensuring that our words carry meaning, responsibility, and care.
We recognize that understanding Indigenous histories and relationships to the land is lifelong work.
