JAY JONAH

Registered Social Worker
(he/him)

Hi, I’m Jay (he/him), a queer, neurodivergent, trans-masculine social worker. I specialize in holding space and working collaboratively with 2SLGBTQIA+, transgender, non-binary, gender-expansive, and neurodivergent adults.

Having navigated my own experiences with identity, neurodivergence, anxiety, body shame, and self-doubt. I know how exhausting it can be to navigate spaces where you feel obligated to educate, explain, prove, or defend your identity. In our space, every part of you is welcomed; you are free to show up as your authentic self.

My approach is warm, integrative, deeply human-centred, and tailored entirely to you. I bring curiosity, creativity, open-ended reflection, storytelling and a healthy dose of humour to our sessions. Together, we can untangle heavy emotions, unlearn body shame, make sense of persistent patterns, or simply carve out space for you to set down whatever you've been carrying.

I support folks through all seasons of self-discovery, whether we're exploring gender identity and expression, expanding emotional awareness, building a stronger body-mind connection, developing your sense of self, or simply unpacking life’s challenges.

You are so much more than a list of identities; you are a whole, wonderful person with complex feelings, thoughts, and intersecting identities. Whether your concern feels large, small, or completely undefined, you don’t have to arrive with everything figured out. Together, we’ll figure out what comes next, at your own pace, on your own terms, and with zero pressure.

Get To Know Jay

❥ I started my career by doing trans social justice and advocacy work on Canada's east coast. I organized community education forums, workshops for high school students, and spoke publicly on a radio documentary highlighting trans experiences. My work now includes therapy and leading trans inclusion training for community health centres and counselling students.

❥ My lived experience as a queer, trans, neurodivergent service user has redefined the way I approach therapy. I hated coming home after an appointment feeling exhausted and unseen, as I once again had to educate my service provider. I aim to make therapy as approachable, inclusive and client-centred as possible.

❥ I often stim during sessions as it helps me focus. Therapy can feel overwhelming and anxiety-inducing at times, which is why I encourage you to do anything you like to feel comfortable during our time together - stim, fidget, dance, walk, pace, sit or lie on the floor, stare off into the distance, knit, etc. As long as your activity of choice doesn’t impede our discussion, you are welcome to partake in it.
